Oversize Load Caterpillar 349EL Longfront Excavator

Caterpillar makes some of the heaviest duty, most reliable and dependable heavy equipment on the planet, and have long led the pack and pushed the boundaries with its machines. The 349EL is a gigantic excavator with a 12.5L engine that weighs in at a ridiculous 116,000 pounds. Despite its size, the beast can crawl along at a relatively spritely 3 mph. Operating at full speed it can quickly eat through its 190-gallon fuel tank.
Right at the beginning of this clip an operator grabs massive steel containers and starts re-positioning them and the CAT barely seems to notice the thousands of pounds clasped in its jaws. With a 10-ton counterweight, the machine was barely flexing its lifting capacity.

The boom and bucket setup allows it to generate massive digging and stamping force. It has 109,500 lb.ft. of swing torque. The boom cylinder has 5 ft. of stroke and the stick cylinder 6 ft., all driven from the 432 hp pushed out of that snarling monster of a motor. Given its size, just getting one to and from a job site is an endeavor in itself, but once on the site, this huge excavator can make short work of just about any task thrown at it, from digging to loading to demolition.
