Watch the Bobcat log splitter in action

You may find yourself watching this video of a Bobcat log splitter over and over again. There’s something particularly satisfying about how it ceaselessly performs its duty. Watch it in action as it effortlessly saws through logs and splits the sections into firewood as if they are sticks of butter.
Tractor log splitters have reduced the arduous task of chopping firewood to a trivial task. The pioneers of old could never have conceived of such an invention, and yet here it is today, leveraging the power of hydraulics to complete what was once a full day’s work in less than an hour.

The Bobcat 30-ton log splitter can be operated by hand or foot control and features a hydraulic quick-attach, so the operator never has to leave the cab to change an attachment. The unit generates 60,000 pounds of force. The high-performing hydraulic chainsaw has a high-speed, high-pressure piston motor and harvester chain and can be set to cut wood at pre-determined lengths.
The in-feed system uses a hydraulically powered conveyor and spike roller. A dead man’s switch feature automatically stops the feed when the handle is released, keeping the machine safe to use. The splitter incorporates a regeneration circuit for quick splitting, and a built-in grapple allows the wood splitter’s operator to pick up logs easily before maneuvering back to the cutting area, according to Bang Shift.
