Video proves why the Komatsu Excavator PC8000-6 is the sickest monster of them all

Everything about the Komatsu PC8000-6 Mining Shovel screams big. The operational weight is around 777 tons. The shovel can lift 55 cubic yards at a time, and it stands nearly 33 feet tall.
The shovel is powered by two diesel engines each throwing out 2010 hp, or you can opt for two 1450 kW electric motors. 8,280 liters of oil is pumped through the hydraulics when working at full speed, and the hydraulic fuel tank will store 11,500 liters. Even bigger is the fuel tank, which will hold 14,000 liters. All of this bulk means this Komatsu isn’t particularly light on its feet, only managing a maximum speed of 1.5 mph, according to Mining Power.

Hydraulics are safe from falling debris, safely tucked away under the backhoe or shovel. 14 high-performance XENON lights keep the PC8000-6 working all night if you want it to. The cab is air-conditioned, and there’s even a CD/MP3 player in case you get bored operating one of the biggest machines on the planet. Optional equipment allows the machine to withstand temperatures down to -58 degrees Fahrenheit.
Despite all this raw power and size, the Komatsu PC8000-6 Mining Shovel is easy to maintain, with a walk-in machinery house and ground-level access to the main hydraulics.
