See the CH-47 Chinook helicopter lift 50,000 pounds like it's nothing

Watch the video below to see an incredible machine perform a tough task in challenging conditions. A Boeing CH-47 Chinook loads up with soldiers in Alaska and delivers them and their 11,000-pound all-terrain vehicle, slung below the chopper, to their destination.
Designed in the 1950s and first deployed in the 1960s, the Chinook is a reliable heavy transport helicopter that is still being made today. This video shows how its design and power are needed for both military and civilian, operations. With an empty weight of 24,578 pounds, the Chinook challenges its maximum takeoff weight of 50,000 pounds, when crew, passengers, cargo and fuel are added to it.

It is an impressive aircraft, and each of its Lycoming T55-GA-714A turboshaft engines produces 4,733 hp, according to Boeing. The engines are located to the rear of the helicopter.
At the time it was designed, the Chinook was a significant step forward in transport helicopters with its extended cargo area and rear ramp. The helicopter in the video is performing in the cold of Alaska, but they have also been flown all over the world and excelled in sandy desert conditions and on mountain missions at high altitudes.
