What do you get when you put fighter jet engines on a tank? The most extreme fire truck ever

Is it a plane? Is it a tank? Is it a Transformer? Nope. It is the world’s most powerful fire truck, Big Wind, the brainchild of Hungarian engineers in the early 1990s.
According to Extreme World and Engineering and Sia Magazine, this beast was created by combining recycled parts from a Russian T-34 tank and two MIG 21 jet engines. It pays to recycle.

Big Wind was constructed to extinguish the world’s most disastrous wildfires. Big Wind was mostly being used to fight well fires after its creation, but when the wars in the gulf started, Big Wind was shipped off in a cargo carrier to help extinguish blazing oil fields in Kuwait.
With a machine this huge, you know it’s going to take more than one crewmember to operate it. In fact, it takes three: a driver, a controller in a rear cabin in the back to run the jet engines and water jets, and a fire chief, who normally walks about 15 feet away.
When the water is on, six hoses around the jet engine release a huge blast of water that becomes a merciless spray of steam when it merges with the jet exhaust. With water coming out about 220 gallons per second and about 8,000 gallons per minute, even the most ferocious fire succumbs to this monster. To put it another way, Big Wind would suck a normal suburban swimming pool dry in less than a minute.
