Listen to the 'nastiest blown car known to man'

Check out this 1969 generation cherry red Camaro’s wicked engine. This muscular beast has a monster of a supercharger poking through the hood, forcing air into the engine to create even more horsepower and torque in this already brawny brute. It bears noting that in the early days of the Camaro, Chevrolet product managers identified it as “a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs!”
The first generation Chevrolet Camaro hit the streets in September 1966 (67 model year) through 1969 and was available as a four-seater hardtop or convertible. Buyers had their choice of a straight six or V-8 powerplant, according to Chevrolet. The straight six 3.8L engine had 140 hp and a 3-speed manual transmission. The V-8 was available in 5.0L or 5.4L and had optional two-speed Powerglide transmission.
A three-speed “Turbo Hydra-Matic 350” automatic transmission became available in 1969, the year of the car featured in the video. Three package options were offered, the RS, SS and Z28. The RS offered unique hidden headlights and bright trim. The SS offered 350 or 396 cu in V8 engine and chassis upgrades for improved handling.
The legendary Z28 package (as seen in the video) was considered virtually race ready, with far more power than even rigorous highway driving would ever demand. The engine was a 4.9L small block V-8 with a 3” crankshaft with a 4” bore, aluminum intake manifold and a 4-barrel Holley carburetor. The engine was listed at 290 hp, but was in fact underrated. The actual peak was 360 hp with the single four-barrel carb, and 400 hp with the optional dual-four barrel carb.
The iconic Camaro represents the best of the muscle car era and perhaps one of the most famous Z28s of all time is the legendary 1968 Penske/Sunoco race car.

Only 198 Ford Mustang 428 Super Cobra Jets were built in 1970, and here we have one!
