The Centipede visits remote mines and farms throughout Australia. According to A Car is Not a Refrigerator, the Centipede is most often used to carry zinc ore from a Northern Territory mine to a port city. It can haul a quarter of a million tons of ore each year.
The Australian mining company was so pleased with the transportation results that it has now made an identical counterpart. There are plans for even longer road trains in the future.
Australia’s Outback is known for its unforgiving nature, putting lots of stress of vehicles. The Centipede is able to travel long distances efficiently, reducing the amount of fuel required and getting the job done with the minimum of fuss.
