Get up close and personal with this Sandalwood 1964 Plymouth Fury Wedge

Here’s an interesting 1964 Plymouth Fury 426 Wedge Convertible – a car that is sedate and refined but secretly hides a blisteringly fast 426 engine that’ll go from 0-60 in less than 7 seconds.
Kevin Oeste introduces this pristinely-kept beauty, which is a high-performance enthusiast’s dream come true. Some may balk at the color, but we don’t all want neon red flames on our daily rides.

On the outside, one may not predict that under the hood sits a 426-cubic-inch wedge. Being a convertible, it’s not the fastest Plymouth 426 around, but it was built with style in mind. Standing tall on the hood, the 426 symbol is distinctive and easy to recognize. The four front headlights are fun and functional, and the polished, stainless trim that wraps around them gives them an air of class and sophistication that’s often lacking from later muscle cars.
Featuring high compression cylinder heads, 360 horsepower, 480 pound-feet of torque, and a ride that can’t compare, the 426 Fury was a premium option from Plymouth in 1964, according to Old Cars Weekly.
Only around 3,850 Furies were made that year, and few of those sported the top dog 426 engine. You can see some of the high-end features for the day in the video, such as the AM/FM radio, which still works to this day.
