Vintage footage road test: 1968 Hurst Olds, 'the silkiest bomb ever nestled between four wheels'

The only thing that is cooler than the 1968 Hurst Oldsmobile in the fact this video was shot in 1968! This is a classic retro video of the brand new Oldsmobile. There is no doubt that the Oldsmobile Hurst was a class-leading car, and this road test proves it.
The Hurst came with Goodyear tires that sat on 7-inch rims and had an 112-inch wheelbase. The engine is a monster 455 cubic inches that delivers 390 horsepower with a 10.5:1 compression ratio.

This car was big and it was bad. According to Hemmings, it got 500 ft. lbs. of torque at 3600 RPMs and of course, it had RAM air. Throw in tubed, tubular headers, a high lift long duration cam and high-performance cylinders, and you have a near-perfect car.
The car flies, doing 0-45 in 3.5 seconds and 0-60 in 5.3 seconds – crazy fast for a sixties machine. This car was designed for pure power and speed, and it delivers plenty of both.
Sit back and imagine you’re way back in 1968, watching this road test on TV for the first time. Would you choose to buy the 1968 Hurst Oldsmobile? I sure would!
