Two MTU DD 16V4000 generate the power, each one has with a capacity of 65 liters, according to Belaz. To save fuel, the vehicle can operate on just one engine. With both going, its top speed is around 40 mph.
The power produced from the diesel engines goes to four 1TB3026 – 0GB03 electric traction motors to drive the vehicle, according to Belaz. It isn’t four-wheel drive - it is all-wheel drive - as power goes to eight wheels. They also help steer the giant, with all-wheel steering the 75710 has a turning circle that is smaller than expected. 59/80R63 tires support the heavy vehicle and its load.
The Liebherr T282B was previously considered the biggest dump truck around. The Belaz 75710 is much bigger, and in terms of capacity can carry nearly 100 metric tons more than the Liebherr. The BBC says the Belaz dump truck “weighs more than a fully loaded Airbus A380 passenger plane.”
